Never in my life have I had so much time on my hands as in the last 4 days so I decided to start The Bacsik Family Blog (OK maybe I had this much time at age 5 but the internet was not in existence and I didn't know how to type.) I am excited to start this new project as we are about to add another addition to The Bacsik Family. Jacob Ryan will be joining us shortly and we can hardly wait.
Mike is playing for the Columbus Clippers this season, AAA for the Nationals. The season started on April 3rd after a long and disappointing Spring Training. Not disappointing because of Mike's performance but because he was sent to minor league camp early in the course and wasn't given the chance to show his stuff! He worked hard in the off season, harder than ever before, to rehabilitate his pitching shoulder. He started the season off well despite being distracted with life outside baseball- see below. Currently he his holding down the positions of "single dad", caretaker to his pregnant, bedridden wife and relief pitcher for the Columbus Clippers. He is a wonderful father and husband. I am honored to be married to such a loving man.
I am finally finished with my pediatric residency, last June, and took an attending position at Parkland Hospital in the Newborn Nursery. I love my job!!! I can't find a better word to describe it other than perfect. I am working part time- 6 months on and 6 months off. Completing my first 6 months near the end of March- I was sad to go but ready for the time off as I was working full time, being a "single parent" to Mary Grace and continuing to grow with this current pregnancy. At 27 weeks pregnant I was diagnosed with a placenta previa but everything else was fine, Jake was growing according to schedule and looked beautiful on ultrasound. Mary Grace and I joined Mike in Florida on March 21st. Soon after we arrived I had a scare with some minor bleeding and ended up in L&D in Florida. We determined everything was stable so made the long road trip to Columbus, OH. We were here only 3 days before another major bleed and now I am in the hospital awaiting the birth of our little boy. As I have so much time to think, pray and reflect I have determined I have the BEST family, friends and that life takes directions that were not expected or planned. These new directions are sometimes terrifying but I've learned and continue to learn God has a plan, He knows, and I trust Him.
Mary Grace is our 3 year old little girl and the joy of our life! She is amazing, beautiful, smart, kind, loving and adventurous. Through all of these changes in her life she is coping well, maybe better than her mommy and daddy. She adapts to new situations and embraces them. Believe me, she has her "not so perfect moments" but those are few and far between the regular loving child she is becoming. She loves to pick out her own clothes! She wakes up each morning saying "Mommy, what pretty dress could I wear today?" She likes to put on her own shoes- more times than not they are on the wrong foot but we just go with it because she likes the independence. She loves painting, coloring, making things, going to the park, watching her Daddy play ball, swimming, ballet class, and going to school. Mary Grace thinks Belle (from Beauty in the Beast) is the "most beautiful princess in the whole world." We started her in a Parents Day Out program this year and she thrived! She wants to "go to school" seven days a week. Ballet class was the highlight of her spring- she only went to 2 classes before we left for Florida but she thought it was heaven. She starts swim lessons and ballet class here in Columbus next week and she is sooooooo excited, we will let you all know how it goes.
Jacob Ryan is the newest addition to our family. He is a "wild child" inside my belly- moving constantly. On our last ultrasound he is weighing in at 5 pounds 12 ounces. We can't wait to meet this little guy! Mary Grace is the most excited because when he is born Mommy and Jake get to come home.
Maverick is our wonderful dog. He is keeping Allie company back in Texas. We miss him terribly.
Our extended family is the best family anyone could ask for. They are supportive, caring and INCREDIBLE! With this last scare during this pregnancy within hours we had Mike's mom on the next flight to help with Mary Grace, Tanya to come next and my mom volunteering 2 weeks of her life and vacation time. WOW, we are blessed. This is all in addition to the rest of our extended family, I include our friends here when I say family, working on scheduling when they are coming to Ohio. It brings tears to my eyes with how blessed I feel and how much I look forward to returning these gifts of kindness to our loved ones.
